Pioneer is a format for Magic: The Gathering. For more details, you can visit the official webpage ( https://magic.wizards.com/en/formats/pioneer ). It's a lower power level (and cheaper!) than Modern, and cards don't rotate out, unlike Standard.

There is a group of about 4 that show up every week, and we want new players to come join in on the fun! If you ever missed playing non-Commander games of Magic, this is your chance. Build your own deck, buy a challenger deck, or borrow one of my decks, and come play with us. The entry fee is only $5, but if you're a new player, I'll personally pay for your entry fee! Prizes are awarded to the top 3 players at the end of the tournament, consisting of store credit and promo packs.

Perfect! New players are always welcome, and we have a really friendly group. I usually arrive 30 to 45 minutes ahead of time, I'd be happy to review the basics of Magic the Gathering, teach you a deck of your choice, and do some quick practice with you!

If you want to come extra prepared, bring some dice and a playmat, or purchase one at the store! Otherwise, nothing else is required. Having the MTG Companion App loaded onto your phone will help make things run smoother.
